I don't use Lightroom but am guessing you can do the same as for Capture One by moving not exporting. I only edit in Capture One on my desktop.Ĭonsequently Workspace can be used just to view, cull, and rate your images before any editing is done elsewhere.

I load my SD card into a LaCie Rugged RAID PRO 4TB external drive which has a built-in SD slot - Either connected to my desktop Mac or MacBook Pro laptop when travelling. When you first open the SD card in OW, select the 'PC' option rather than connecting the camera with card via USB cable. BUT if you select the ORF files in OW and then ' Move.' instead of 'Export.' you can then move them remaining as ORF into your Capture One session and fully adjust and edit as your usual workflow. If anyone here is wanting to RAW convert and edit OM-1 RAW image files in Capture One (which supports OM-1) rather than in OMD Workspace (OW), unfortunately you can Export only as either a TIFF or a JPEG neither of which is ideal.

I think I might download the CaptureOnePro trial for the latest version and see how it goes with these OM-1 Raw files compared to this. I have seen this before with the TIFF files exported from OM Workspace where I used it to process my Mk3 files for HHHR and Fisheye de-fishing.

When I process it in CaptureOne, it does not seem to have the same latitude for things like highlight and shadow recovery compared to processing the ORF files in CaptureOne, so I am wondering if it is just the 8 bit RGB put into a 16 bit TIFF file as you said.įor example, with the highlight area on the face of the Blue Tit I cannot recover any detail (it is ISO 8000 though):īlue Tit - Cropped by Bill Dennis, on Flickr It says "16 bit uncompressed TIFF" for what is exported from Workspace. Does the 16-bit TIFF from the camera-developed RAW comprise 12-bit RGB, do you think, rather than being a 16-bit container for 8-bit RGB colours? You know, I am not 100% sure on that. I found that the exported TIFF was more or less indistinguishable from the exported JPG, but that was after Workspace, and not the camera, had processed the RAW. You can now export a TIFF file using the USB-RAW processing. I only reviewed and starred a few on camera though, then got into OM WS after lunch. I had intended to review them on camera and add star ratings which I could then use to target the files worth processing in OM WS.

The main issue is reviewing the files in OM Workspace as it is so sloooow to render a RAW file to preview it on my Mac. It feels like I have had my left arm cut off! I'm used to using DxO / CaptureOne - Workspace is a bit clunky but the USB Raw makes a big difference to be fair.

  • Further process in C1P then export to JPEG.
  • Export to TIFF using USB Raw Process on the OM-1.

IanI am using it on a Mac Mini 2018 6 Core Intel i7 which doesn't have enough VRAM for the AI module, so just the basic OM Workspace processing. Interesting - I'm limited to using my laptop at the moment, which only has 2GB VRAM - does this require at least 4GB of VRAM or is that only for the AI noise reduction module?

Meanwhile, I am waiting for CaptureOne to do a promotion so I can get the upgrade with OM-1 support for less that £199! This is what my complete USB RAW edit window looks like in OM WS - same as the normal OM Workspace window but it is using the camera as an image processor. This opens up to use OM WS to do a quicker bulk process of some files to TIF so you can work them on another application like C1Pro in the case that you don't have the version with OM-1 support yet.

The export for a single file is quite fast. This gives you all the editing provided by OM WS from the main window, not the cut down functionality it gave in the E-M1 Mk3 scenario in a separate window.Ģ) You can now export a TIFF file using the USB-RAW processing. You select the RAW Processing method to be the camera using the yellow icon in the edit area of the main window (not from Tools like before). I have found 2 useful things that are different from how it worked with my E-M1 Mk3:ġ) You do the RAW processing in the main OM Workspace application window, not in a separate USB Raw window like before. I just plugged my OM-1 into my Mac to do some USB-RAW processing with OM Workspace because I haven't upgraded CaptureOne Pro yet and DxO PureRaw has no support either.
